Our Team

Meet The Team

It is our goal to make golf more enjoyable for everyone. If you are a new golfer, we can’t wait to teach you from the beginning. We will help you repeat that magic move if you want to play more consistently. If you want to hit the ball better, we will find that kink in your swing If you want to take your game to scratch, we will develop a detailed plan for you.

We enjoy teaching students of all ages.

Junior Golf is a true passion for us.

Jim has been a Class A member of the PGA since 1991 and has been playing golf for 55 years. Jim was the Head Golf Professional at Columbia Hills Country Club from 1997-2013. In 2013, he decided to become a full-time instructor. He vecame an independent instructor at Mallard Creek Golf Club from 2013-2021. There, he built a strong Junior Golf program. When Bill Cosgrove purchased Medina Country Club in 2021, his goal was to have a golf academy on site, so he called Jim, and they started The Jim Wise Golf Academy.

Competitively, Jim has played in many tournaments in Florida and Ohio. He was a member of the Bowling Green State University Taxi Squad golf team and played high school golf at Canton GlenOak.

Jim attended The Golf Academy of the South earning a degree in Golf Management. A major emphasis is placed on studying the golf swing during this two-year degree. Combining his knowledge of the golf swing with his 30+ years of teaching experience, Jim has developed a keen eye for the faults and fixes of golf swings. Jim’s teaching philosophy is to treat each golfer individually. He develops a swing or recommends swing adjustments based on each person’s abilities. He tries to keep his lessons fun, positive and encouraging.

The Academy uses computer video in every lesson and emails you a video of your swing after each lesson.

Group programming has become such a big part of the Academy and Jim has decided to concentrate on that as he takes a step back on his schedule. In addition to teaching the group classes, Jim remains very active in mentoring hs Assistants. He meets with them often to discuss their lesson plans and progress of their students.
