Our Team

Meet The Team

It is our goal to make golf more enjoyable for everyone. If you are a new golfer, we can’t wait to teach you from the beginning. We will help you repeat that magic move if you want to play more consistently. If you want to hit the ball better, we will find that kink in your swing If you want to take your game to scratch, we will develop a detailed plan for you.

Teaching is a passion of ours. Junior Golf is a passion for us.

Jim has developed an award-winning junior golf program.

  • Two-time winner of the Youth Player Development Award for the Northern Ohio PGA
  • 15th largest PGA Junior League program in the country
  • Largest PGA Junior League program in Ohio
  • Five time team qualifier to the PGA Junior League National Championship.

To set up a lesson, email Jim at jimwisegolfacademy@gmail.com

Jim has been a Class A member of the PGA since 1991 and has been playing golf for 50 years. Most recently, Jim was the Director of Instruction at Mallard Creek Golf Club from 2013-2021. Before that, Jim was the Head Golf Professional at Columbia Hills Country Club from 1997-2013.

Competitively, Jim has played in many tournaments in Florida and Ohio, was a member of the Bowling Green State University Taxi Squad golf team and played high school golf at Canton GlenOak.

Jim attended The Golf Academy of the South earning a degree in Golf Management. A major emphasis is placed on studying the golf swing during this two-year degree. Combining his knowledge of the golf swing with his 30 years of teaching experience, Jim has developed a keen eye for the faults and fixes of golf swings. Jim’s teaching philosophy is to treat each golfer individually. He develops a swing or recommends swing adjustments based on each person’s abilities. He tries to keep his lessons fun, positive and encouraging.

Jim uses computer video in every lesson and emails you a video of your swing after each lesson.

Theresa Wise

This is Theresa’s first official foray into the Golf Business. She has been a big supporter of Jim through his golf career while also building her own career.

She graduated from Bowling Green State University (where she & Jim met) with a Computer Science degree. She was hired right after graduation by Sohio (BP) to manage the installation and operation of their new Pipeline Control System. In the years following, she worked several management positions with Sohio/BP Pipeline. When the BP created its new Crisis Management Group in 1990, she was asked to join the division.

Theresa worked for BP in Crisis Management until the end of 2008 when she decided to “retire” to spend more time with her growing children. In April 2010, the day after the BP Horizon Oil Rig explosion, BP called her to ask for her to help with the response. She worked on the response for 9 months in Louisiana reporting to the Incident Commander & managing over 900 responders.

After the response, Theresa continued as a consultant until 2020 when she “retired” again.

Theresa joins The Jim Wise Golf Academy as the Director of Operations. She will be managing most of the non-teaching activities for the Academy (scheduling, accounting, HR, program registrations, office management, etc.).
